What does it mean to seek the Kingdom of God?

Jesus stated in Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Kingdom seekers lets zoom in to this scripture. In order to get the full context and meaning we have to read the whole chapter. And sometimes the chapter before and after.

We have to understand who wrote the book, why they wrote the book and the context in which they wrote the book. Then you will be able to pull the truth and principles from the word. If you read the whole chapter of Matthew 6 there are tons of great principles.

When I first read this scripture I thought it meant pray, seek the kingdom and I would get stuff. That’s exposing my mentality. More than likely it was my culture and up bringing that made me think that way. In America we love……things. We want resources and provision.

With a kingdom mentality we have the wisdom of God and the Holy Spirit inside of us. We can now go to God and ask what does that mean?

We have the information but now we need a revelation. Do you know that there are people who have no idea that Matthew 6 exists. We sometimes argue with them but they never read it or it was not taught in the culture.

Seek first the Kingdom: In my blogs earlier I purposefully took time to explain the Kingdom. If you read Matthew 6:33, you might think it means to pray, or seek your church, or seek something. The scripture shows us the priority, where to go and who to seek when we have a problem or a need. We know our source.

In seeking we are like children, we ask questions, we study, we get to know, we look at nature, we look throughout the word of God for similar cases, we talk directly to our Father. Sometimes we can ask seasoned kingdom citizens to point us to the right direction.

2. And his righteousness: Now this is the part you have to find out for yourself. (Right)eousness. This can help you see what’s out of order and if you are out of order. This is loaded with laws and principles. I think its important to explore your learning and discover what righteousness is. Righteousness actually protects your life.

Maybe the problem doesn’t require prayer at all, but an adjustment in my life or an action I need to apply. God can provide the wisdom and keys I need.

All these things will be given to you as well: I think this is self explanatory.

For me, there is more than material things to live for, there was so much more locked up in God’s Kingdom that I didn’t know about. Our Father knows we need food, a place to stay, pleasure, recreation, life fulfillment, business, he knows about our bills, our troubles with the world, relationship problems. He actually wants us to partner with him to solve these issues.

He wants to make sure we use the correct principles for specific problems. Some people pray but they should use the principle of work. Or they avoid addressing an issue out of fear but they should be loving and communicating.

God never wanted things to rule us that we forget about his laws and forget about him, his people and his Kingdom. Now the priority is seeking the Kingdom, pursing righteousness and the things are a by product. It’s an interesting idea but it’s a believer’s job to believe their King. If Jesus said it, it will work.

First things first, this is our Priority.

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
