What does it mean to be created in the image of God?
Ancient text tells us we were created in the image of God. Just like some children physically look like their mother or father. We a have a spiritual DNA, likeness and character.
The idea of being created in God’s image is not referring to physical characteristics. The root meaning in Hebrew comes from the word “tselem” and “demut”. This is referring to shading God’s spiritual likeness. Your internal spirit has God’s moral and spiritual nature. In that spirit holds the nature, character and essence of your Heavenly Father.
Reflection: If your internal spirit isn’t reflecting the Heavenly Father’s nature and character, maybe it’s time to think about who is sourcing and fathering you. We all have an internal moral compass for direction. Trust it.
We are not “God” but we are God-like. We are his spiritual children. We have dominion and rulership. We have the responsibility to exercise that God-like quality as an agent for him on the earth.
