Beauty, A God Given Desire of a Woman

We live in a world were there are countless assaults against a woman’s beauty.  Some women are short, tall, medium, small breast, large bust, fair skinned, chocolate & beautiful, curly hair, blond, or natural curly, wigs, weaves, or boldly bald.  On the other side of the world thicker women are considered beautiful and others value a thin low body fat human. Now it seems like there’s the battle of the bums all over social media.

Whatever your view of self-image, all women have experienced an unhealthy internal view of themselves. When God made women and shaped and formed them, he was proud and happy of his creation. One of the biggest lies of the enemy is all women should be the same or look the same.

I remember looking at my self-reflection in the mirror and think it’s nice but maybe it’s not pretty enough. Maybe another 5 pound would make my face thinner and my stomach a little smaller. Bingo! There’s my happiness! And ekkk I don’t know if this will work because I like candy and there’s no way I can lose another 5 pounds. Ok nevermind, forget it.

Like many women our self-image has been distorted by the world. Men and women are quick to tell someone how they should be or what they should look like. We work hard for this. We spend billions of dollars on beauty, gym, diet, surgery, hair and makeup. Even with all this 85% of women aren’t happy with the way they look.

Listen ladies: Don’t feel bad about it. Yes, I said it. It’s not a 100% bad thing.

All women have this desire, you see little girls with her beauty stuff. She stares at herself in the mirror and she says ohhhhhh I’m so cute. I’m so beautiful. The desire to be beautiful is a natural desire from God. It’s embedded in all women.

True beauty is when you take that beautiful internal woman’s Godly character and match it with the beautiful external. I’m not saying that you have to walk around with a prom dress on. But I am saying it’s ok to look beautiful and be beautiful at any age.

In the Song of Solomon he states, “You are altogether beautiful, my darling: there is no flaw in you.” Solomon was saying that to a woman who was feeling unpretty at the moment. He was reassuring her you are still beautiful.

I think our King sees us that way. He isn’t comparing us to any other woman.
There is no competition in his eyes.

Here are 4 beauty points for Kingdom Woman:

  1. Correct your low self-esteem and worth. God was always your first love before people started tell you what you should look like. He loved your internal spirit and also your external flesh. He formed you in your mother’s womb. You are enough.

Stop believing only looks determine your value. There are people in media who are paid well because they have the gift of communication not because they are super-model gorgeous.

  2. Stop pretending beauty doesn’t matter.  God made your inside and your outside. It’s OK to have a healthy self-concept of beauty. I feel like Kingdom women should rule in this. We need to show the world how it’s really done.

Abuse is abnormal use. We have abnormally used our God given beauty and took our mystery and sexuality outside of the marriage bed.  It’s time to clean this up.

It’s time to have fun and creativity with outside beauty so we can feel beautiful without compromise. Eat healthy, walk, wear your style, if you like makeup wear it, groom your hair, and spend time to with God (the lover of your soul). Strive for healthy balance.

  3. Receive healing from beauty wounds. Whatever lies we believed from humans, TV, family or friends replace it with the love of God and his word. We are all going to age, have baby weight, wake up with crazy hair and so on. Our bodies will change for sure. Some of these wounds are in our minds and spirit.

Maybe your self-esteem has been crushed by the outside world or someone telling you your hair style is old school or your hips are too large. Maybe they told you, you are too thin. You can ignore those comments and mindsets. You can be ok with you. God made the law of difference. If he wanted all of us to be the same he would have made everyone the same.

  4. Self Reflection: In what ways can I appreciate how God made me?
